This place reminds of the movie, "Nacho Libre" (Nachooooooooooooooooooooooooooo). The restaurant is just screams luchador wrestlers from the gold Champs Booth to the soda fountain labeled with luchador face masks. Wrestlers and Mexican food are two of my husband's favorite things and when I found this place on Yelp, he was eager to come here. He had the Classic California Burrito with french fries and steak while I had the Surf and Turf Tacos. There was a self-serve bar with different salsa choices. The salsas were fresh and spicy and added a kick to each bite of our food. Everything was tasted great. I'm pretty sure if we lived in San Diego, my husband would make us eat here at least once a week.

5 stars if you are looking for an amazing burrito - we had the surfin California which has a perfect blend of shrimp (big ones), carne asana, french fries, sliced avocado, cheese, chipotle sauce and slightly toasted to make the tortilla crispy and all for $7.95. The sauces are delicious and free refills on sodas and chips. The wait is long, but it does move quickly. Weird but there were more Asians at this place than anywhere I've been in San Diego - now I know where they all hang out ;)

This place has a lot of hype and because of that hype it makes you very excited to want to eat here. The line is usually outside the door and today it took 35 mins to get my food after ordering. I give the salsa bar a 5 out of 5. But the rest of the food is average. The quality of the tacos wasn't up to par compared to authentic mexican tacos or even San Diego mexican food. The rolled tacos are a waste of money- they came out so hot that the tacos burnt a hole through the styrofoam plates. And lastly they charge $4.50 a taco- that's expensive for taco standards. Worth going there once to experience the hype.

Luca Libre isn't the super-authentic Mexican taco shop experience that you can find here in SD, but its no joke, this place cranks out some seriously bomb tacos, burritos and enchiladas! The salsa bar is NOT to be overlooked. In fact, take advantage of that &^$*, it might be one of the best around... Lucha Libre won my heart the first time I went when i discovered that they gave complimentary, freshly hot chips and over 6 different types of salsa to accommodate it. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was amazing. The second time I went (the food shown in the picture), I was not too impressed. My friend and I both ordered the Surfin' California burrito. I ordered it in the "Make it Light" combo version with corn (that was very sour) and vegetables (not ones I could finish). I love Lucha Libre, but I think things depend on what you order and when you go. I would stick with the breakfast burrito and the hot dog as solid choices!

Always good. Their salsa bar has killer options, the cucumber one is my fav! They have chips and salsa available, just ask. There is always a line. Always. Just be prepared for this. However, it goes surprisingly quickly and you can always call your order in and pick it up (to go only, there is a separate line for this). If you have a special celebration, you can eat at the golden table for the full experience. Totally gonna do this!! First thought: very unique California burritos here! My friend and I came here on a Wednesday night, but it was still popping with a huge line. It took waiting in line for 15 minutes before I had the chance to order. I loved the atmosphere of the store. It was very cultured; the walls were decorated with photos and displayed various wrestling masks. There's a champion seat that you can reserve online that's like a golden sofa. Definitely the seat for attention if you're looking to be an eye catcher! I grabbed the Surf N' Turf burrito. There was a lot of different flavor going on in the burrito, including avocado and shrimp. It was not as dense as other normal burritos, but was still very filling, even though I shared half. I don't regret having my final meal from my San Diego trip here. I will be coming back to try their other burritos along with tacos!

It was a great experience with great service, and you definitely do feel special.Now let's get on to the important part the food.I tried the Surfin California, TJ Hotdog, Veggie Hot Dog, and of course the free chips and salsa. Everything was expertly crafted and delicious, but by far the highlight was the Surfin California. The way that all the elements came together was perfect. From the marinated shrimp to carne asada the meat was high quality. However the French fries aren't crispy enough so they don't really add anything to the burrito. This food may not be authentic Mexican food, but it is really good.

Well first off this place is famous. It's on tv so it attracts tons of people. The parking sucks and you can always count on a line. The seating is limited and it kills me every time I see the champions corner with no one in it. You have to reserve the corner a day in advance. So why would you bother coming to a place that has such a hard time accommodating its customers with seating, parking and wait times? Because good sirs and ladies the surf and turf burrito will blow your freaking MIND!!! I always like to order the Surfin California burrito here. The meat are juicy and tender. The avocado and pico de gallo are fresh. Portions are huge. Its a very small place and there is always a line but the line goes by quick. I never had a problem trying to find a table because people come in to order, eat, and leave by the time others are coming in. I really like their different choices of hot sauce. I think the other bad thing about this place is parking. Besides the place being small their parking lot is also small and its a shared lot between the other businesses around them. What I like to do is call in my order and take it togo because its faster that way.

My wife and I booked 2 round-trip tickets from San Diego to Seattle on Alaska Airlines on 5-16-15. Using our locator number, AITPSX, we reserved two aisle seats. These seats were confirmed ours by Alaska Air. But on 6-28-15, while reviewing our seat numbers on line, we learned, that Alaska Air changed our aisle seats for middle seats far from each other in the rear of the plane. Alaska Air never notified us of this change in seating. After contacting Alaska Air customer service to complain, we were upset that they refused to reinstate our aisle seats or make any compensation for our loss. We chose to fly this airline because there was no extra charge for aisle seats and we booked early to insure we obtained aisle seats. Had we known that Alaska Air would remove our reservation without notification, we would have booked on American Airlines and paid extra for aisle seats. Alaska Air doesn't live up to its commitments. We will never fly on Alaska Air again.

After years of hearing the rave reviews, we decided to endure the frustration of finding a parking spot. After shuffling through the long line, I ordered the Surfing California with a side of black beans; my wife ordered the chicken queso taco with beans and corn. We got our food, and, with the typical excitement of diving into famous dishes, my wife was greeted with dry chicken, bland tortilla, and insipid beans; myself an underwhelming burrito with mushy fries and chewy meat that was no better than one from a two star Mexican drive thru. The tortilla chips were good, but the salsa bar was filthy. As the line continued to grow, we looked down at our unfinished plates and wondered what the big deal was about the place. Maybe the unique ambience? We left the joint having felt like we dropped $20 in the hole for bland, mediocre food. Overrated to the max. We'll never come back.

This place was so "meh," it hurt. Visiting San Diego and popped into Lucha Libre tonight with my better half. We split a Surfin' California burrito and upgraded to a Pro Meal, opting for the TJ corn and a mini salad as our sides. The burrito was a real disappointment. Every component was lukewarm and mushy, except for the steak which was lukewarm and stringy (hooray for at least one contrasting texture?).The steak had a strong, unpleasant flavor to it, but the shrimp and the accompanying "secret" chipotle sauce were both palatable. The TJ Corn tasted like Green Giant Niblets with some limey sour cream on top. The salad looked so sad, we just couldn't bring ourselves to put it out of its misery. It was a decent, edible meal, but it's not one I would recommend to anyone. I would give this three stars, but the overall lack of effort that went into what could have (and should have) been a simple, delicious meal has earned this place a 2.

Yes, Yes. Adam Richman came here for an episode of Man Vs. Food. Blah blah blah. Yes, the Surf and Turf Burrito is very good. Whatever. But really, my favorite item on the menu was the Cilantro Cream Sauce! Wait, it's NOT on the menu?!? Well, it should be!! Maybe list it under drinks, because I would down that like a 32oz cup of Horchata!! On the other hand, I would need to visit my cardiologist right after. Anyway, chugging sauce toppings aside, this place has pretty good food. The TJ-style tacos are pretty good (I mean, it's wrapped in bacon! Why wouldn't it be?!). They have a Huevos Rancheros BURRITO! And, my favorite, a queso taco which has a layer of grilled crispy cheese! What's not to like about that! The place is small and almost always has a long line out the door and onto the sidewalk. If you're one of the lucky ones and are able to get a seat, I recommend buying a lotto ticket because it's probably your lucky day! Just don't pick the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42. Trust me.

Finally, when we arrived, I was disappointed to see how long the line was, but it's understandable because everyone wants a surfin Cali. I think anyone who knows me knows about my love for Lucha Libre and how frequently I visit. This is the only place I go to eat burritos. I used to go almost every week for a few months (when I wasn't as busy) and still consistently go today. The flavor of the carne asada is spot on. And I mean, who doesn't love some good fries! Their chips are also pretty good. I can't seem to stop eating them when placed in front of me. No matter how many times I tell myself to stop, my hand just grabs another. Beware though, the inside of the restaurant gets pretty toasty. If you're waiting in line (which shoots out the door more times than not) be prepared to enter a chamber of heat! Today almost all the workers were sweating. I think it's time to invest in air conditioning. Not only will the customers enjoy it, but I think the staff would too! My only real complaint is that they are not always consistent with their burritos. I've had days where my burrito is about to burst. But I've also had days where my burrito is under stuffed. However, that won't stop me from going to Lucha Libre! Overall, I just love this place. Dine in or take out, you have my heart Lucha Libre, it's yours.

Tends to get really busy at lunch time. I suggest heading over to their new location in North Park where there is more parking options and is less crowded.

What do I have to try from San Diego that I can't get anywhere else? -Phil's, Extraordinary Desserts, Lucha Libre. Done, done, and DONE! This was basically my San Diego weekend as my friends and I loaded up on carbohydrates before the marathon only to stuff our faces afterwards. Fun weekend, no? I read up a lot about this place before actually going, so I had a fairly good idea of what's popular. Lucha Libre is pretty small, with only a few tables as well as their famous "Champion" table. But people are in and out pretty fast, so it's not too hard to secure a table for your party if you stand around and wait. The restaurant is decked out with interesting Lucha Libre decorations that keeps this place unique. You're technically not allowed to hold a table until you order (I think), so while I was standing in that long line and watching people take bites out of the food, I changed my mind several times about what I wanted to order. I ended up settling on a California Burrito half special, where you only get 1/2 of the burrito along with a salad, corn, a drink, and unlimited tortilla chips. Needless to say, that was a good decision as I had a difficult time finishing half a burrito. California Burrito: It was good. I can see why people really like it, but as someone who isn't too crazy about Mexican food, it was just okay. I liked the flavor, and the meat was cooked well, but nothing amazing about it. I did like the fact that they stuffed French fries in the burrito. That made it more unique, although if they didn't do that, I probably would have done that on my own! Carne Asada Fries: My friends ordered the fries to share as a group, and these were pretty darn amazing. If you're a fan of French fries, sour cream, guacamole, carne asada ... basically if you want to stuff yourself full, you'll like these fries. I think the French fries could have been cooked crispier, but you honesty really don't mind once you dig into the fries and get the salsa, guacamole, sour cream, yeah. Hot dog and quesadilla: Nothing special, but these items were tasty from the few bites that I tried. I think what really makes Lucha Libre so popular is their salsa bar. It isn't your ordinary El Pollo Loco salsa bar (although there's nothing wrong with their salsas), but it's filled with unique salsa flavors that really add a kick to whatever you're adding it to. My favorite was the cilantro salsa (light and refreshing), but the mango ones were also really tasty. tl;dr - Prices aren't too high and you definitely get a lot of food that will make you pretty full within a few bites. Lines get really long, so try to avoid coming during lunch/dinner rush hours. If this place didn't have their popular salsa bar with endless tortilla chips, I probably would only give it 3 stars.

I went to this place when I first moved to San Diego because everyone kept telling me I had to go there. I'm glad I did because this is a neat restaurant that is pretty much all about the atmosphere. Not to say that I didn't like the food because I loved the Holy Moly burrito that I ordered. It's just that the theme is the big draw. I love wrestling and I love lucha libre style, so seeing all of the luchador masks was awesome. They even had an old-school luchador movie playing on the tv the entire time, which me and my friends loved. And I'm not sure how much the discount is, but you do get a discount on your food if you order while wearing a luchador mask. To me, the only negatives are that parking can be iffy and the lines can be long. We drove around for a while during lunch hour rush before we lucked out on a parking spot out front. And the line to order was really long that day, but it was worth the wait for the food. There's enough to look at in the tiny restaurant that you will be entertained while waiting to order. So, if you live in San Diego or even if you're just visiting, come see this place!

Food: 4 out of 5 I ordered the surf & turf burrito, the boyfriend got the veg out and we made that a pro meal; comes with two sides and a fountain drink. All orders come with chips and you get all the salsa at their salsa bar. I enjoyed my burrito, the shrimp add cooked nicely but the steak was too tough. My boyfriends veg out burrito was more like a veggie wrap. He wished it was more like a burrito with beans and salsa and some rice. The sides we chose were the TJ corn. It was pretty good. I also tried the infamous white cream cilantro sauce and it was mediocre. It could've used a little more salt and maybe some lime. All you taste is cream and cilantro. Ambiance: 3 out of 5 It was too hot and stuffy inside. All though all ceiling fans were on high it was too hot and sweaty skin on vinyl don't well together. All in all a good place to check out at least once when visiting SD.

This is one of my fave spots. Not because it's been on travel channel or that there are long lines out the door, but because of their Surf n' Turf burrito (carne asada/shrimp) and cilantro salsa. You'll be tasting the garlic from the salsa in your system for about 24 hours but it's worth it. You have to wait in the line to order before you can get in the place, hence the long line out the door, but it moves fairly quickly. It's not quite a hole in the wall type of taco shop but it's still a taco shop, so I wouldn't consider it fancy eats. It's small, can get hot and could use a good clean up every few hours but hey, it's a slip and dip kind of place. Fast food, if you will. I typically come here after a night of drinking. Parking is limited to street parking or the parking lot by the liquor store (after hours) but I've never had a problem parking.

The place is so small, hard to find parking, there was a 30 minute wait, and you can't find a seat until you get your food. It's uncomfortable to sit and eat your food when you see the long line of people looking for a seat. The food is good, very large portions, and endless chips and salsa. I enjoyed the food very much, I think next time I go I'd make sure I was very hungry. The whole place is decorated with the Lucha Libre theme but the bathrooms are clean and spacious. A neat place to eat!

Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop. This place is now iconic thanks to Man Vs. Food. If you are looking for a ghetto, cheap, authentic, mexican place...this place is NOT for you. Lucha Libre does have its gourmet factor, a little bit more on the pricier end (just a teeny weeny bit more), but the food here offers a LOT more in depth in terms of flavor profile. If I were to describe this shop...it would be gourmet mexican w/ A CRAP TON OF DELICIOUS FLAVORS! The salsa bar and all of the salsa supplied by Lucha Libre are all absolutely amazing. I've been to plenty of Mexican Restaurants in my time, and never have I ever gotten up and refilled so many damn salsa containers in one sitting! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! UNTIL THEN!! ^-^

My last supper in San Diego and man was it divine. My brother and I decided to come here because of the great reviews and because it's close to the airport. The wait was a little over 20 minutes but completely worth it. I think they actually like to keep the wait that long because they only had one cashier ringing people up, but plenty of staff around. Luckily, a lot of people ordered to go and even though we thought we wouldn't be able to find seats, there were tons by the time we ordered our food. Love that they give you chips to hungrily munch on while you wait for your food. There is a salsa bar with so many delicious salsas, we tried them all. We then ordered a feast consisting of the Classic California Burrito, Surf & Turf Burrito, and Tap Me Out Taco. Yum yum yum. We couldn't finish the food at all, but we definitely tried. All three things were so delicious and neither of us could pick a favorite item. They were all so different and wonderful in their own way: the California Burrito giving you a heart attack in every bite from those greasy, but heavenly fries; the Surf & Turf Burrito with steak and shrimp and a delicious sauce; and the Tap Me Out Taco with a delicious corn tortilla and sweet flavor in every bite...yum. I really want Lucha Libre now, can they deliver to the East Coast? Ambiance is silly and fun. The decor is over-the-top with pink and gold and tons of pictures of Lucha Libres. When we were there, they brought out a fake Lucha Libre who walked around, took selfies with people, and most importantly, gave every table a Skip the Line token! Win!!! Definitely going to come in handy because I'm going to find a way to come back.

This little gem is my favorite taco shop ever!! My boyfriend and I love coming down to San Diego whenever we need to take a break from LA or when we are craving a mini daycation. My friend had suggested this place the first time we drove down to SD and I have been in love ever since. Every time I go to SD I'm always tempted to try new places but this is definitely the one constant. My go to meal is the surf & turf taco and the queso taco. The surf and turf has steak and shrimp with avocado and this yummy creamy special sauce. The queso taco has this delicious grilled cheese on the tortilla which is amazing!!! The tacos are really big so sometimes I'll just get one with rice and beans. Everything comes with free chips and the salsa bar (the green creamy sauce is the best)! Overall, I think it's a quality taco shop if you're ever in the area :)

Lucha Libre is now coasting on its reputation. Apparently, the press of business has lead to a decline in quality. I was an OG (hipster) customer before the TV show and loved the place. I admired their success, but stopped going as frequently once the line got too long. After a long absence, I went back and got a Surf and Turf burrito yesterday. It tasted like the Hormel or Carl Buddig version of what I remembered. The shrimp were no longer the dry, sweet, firm-textured high quality variety. They tasted like the slimy, fishy 40ct frozen shrimp you might find in your grandma's freezer. The carne asada was dry, a bit sinewy and had little flavor. Turf -- literally!! I would not be surprised if they actually sourced it from Hormel. I was disappointed. This place used to set itself apart with its quality of ingredients but now it was borderline gross. I guess tourists won't know the difference!! It was also uncomfortably stuffy and hot inside during the lunch hour. On the bright side, the salsas were still good. I will try them one more time. I'm hoping it was just an off day.

After what was usually good experiences with Lucha Libre, I had a bad one. On a busy Father's day we tried a take-out order. They put us on hold for 5 minutes, then hung up, then hung up again when we re-called. After ordering, they said 10 minutes. When we arrived on time, they said it wasn't ready. After 20 minutes, they said, "oh it was ready the whole time just sitting here." So the food was cold. Beyond the bad customer service the food was unpleasant--even microwaved. Lesson: go to Nico's/El Zarape next time.

Was in town with friends and somebody's brother in law told us if we didn't go here, we would "regret it for the rest of our lives". Well, who wants that? We arrived 5 minutes before they began serving lunch. Plenty of time to check out the salsa bar. The beautiful, beautiful salsa bar. The first one that caught my eye was a green one. Looked like some sort of creamy cilantro concoction. I put it in my cup. Took a little taste...yep! Cilantro! I'll take 3 of those, thank you very much. Ordered the California with steak and held the pico. I know, I know. I had other plans for this burrito (see beautiful salsa bar). The burrito was huge! It was full of steak and cheese and (Jesus take the wheel) french fries! YES!!!! I may or may not have been drinking a little and may or may not have devoured the entire thing in one sitting...without a fork. Let's just say, thank goodness I had tums. My boyfriend had the breakfast queso taco. Okay, two of them. Two of my friends ordered TJ dogs. They ate them before I could get pictures. They were wrapped in bacon. So, for you bacon lovers ... this is for you! I cannot wait to go back to this place. I love carne asada fries and chilaquiles. So I am getting both!

I love Lucha Libre! Great Hole in the wall restaurant. If you haven't been here yet, youre missing out on a SD favorite. They have a great theme (lucha fighters) so its great to bring your tourists friends or kids. (BTW I love the anchorman trashcan) They have fresh food. I've been wanting to visit since before it was featured on Man v Food. Finally did it! Definitely smaller than thought, but nice and quaint in a way. Saw the infamous booth! Went during a Friday lunch, fortunately I was able to snag the last spot in the lot. Got to the line, was happily surprised it wasn't long yet. But man, it didn't move. Is it because there's only one cashier? And some people take a long time ordering?? 2nd cash register, please? I ordered a surf and turf to go. Saw the pile of chips, the ones that are supposedly complimentary and come with your meal. I didn't get any, and after looking at it, I didn't ask for it. The salsa bar had a great variety. I, of course, look for the most spiciest one. I got the most reddish one, the green/cucumber, and the brown/mild salsas. Also got the carrots. Got back to work and was happy with the size of the burrito. Review of the burrito, it was alright. The meat was flavorful, but wasn't as tender as I was hoping for, or cut.. Chunky meat and I had to chew more than I'd like to. The salsas were good. My fave, surprisingly, was the green one. Carrots were flavorful, but not fully pickled. Overall, I might come back, but it's not one of those types where I need to come back 'cause it was that great! Staff is friendly and upbeat. I think they should really consider getting a 2nd cashier, it'll help the lines move faster. Also, waiting for salsa in the cramp layout isn't ideal. They should renovate the current layout. Make the salsa/fountain drink section more open and not cramp. And PARKING.. plan accordingly, or good luck.

A Mexican joint for aspiring Rey Mysterios. B+ Burritos, A+ Atmosphere! As a die hard (and forever proud) wrestling fanatic, this was a must try. Old school luchador-style matches play on the TVs of the establishment and a large amount of wrestling merchandise, luchador masks, wrestler signatures, and title belts adorn the walls. The burritos were of decent quality, but seriously, come here for the sheer awesome ridiculousness of the environment. It seems to be a theme catered to this crowd and even though the food is garbage, it is the "cool" thing for them to pretend is the next best taco. Well I say horsesh*t. Worst taco joint ever. I have also tried the Undefeated seafood burrito (with shrimp) and I have to say that the seafood was defeated by the beans. Stingy quantity of shrimp and almost all full of black beans (at least they are very tasty, though). Not the same as it used to be. Got the surf n turf California burrito and took it home. When I got home to eat it, I noticed that the burrito was smaller than it used to be. The burrito was only 60% full. Most of the burrito was excess tortilla with not enough filling. Been going here for 2 years but I hope this place hasn't fallen off. This a San Diego go-to spot for all tourists because it was on TV and I hope they aren't cutting down to make more money

Oh man.. this place is awesome. We arrived at the place in afternoon and the line outside was pretty long but not too bad. I would say we waited about 15 minutes to order our food. The menu is nice and simple. They have a few specialties so I decided to try their surf n' turf and a side of asada fries. The food came out pretty quick, but what I was really amazed by was their salsa bar. They have a huge selection but.. the best out of the batch has to be there creamy cilantro sauce. I've tried this sauce from el pollo loco before and it is pretty tasty. Now note.. it is very easy to get carried away with eating too much of this sauce. This sauce is extremely heavy in fat because the base of this sauce is mayo and sour cream, but its so damn good. After my party got our food, it was quite a pain to get seats because it was so packed. I would recommend while you are waiting in line, if you are with a group a friends, have one of them get seats and you just order for them. It is much easier this way. The burrito was delicious, although I think most of it was drowned by the creamy cilantro sauce, which I think is the real star of this dish. The asada in my burrito was ok but the added shrimp was what really elevated this meal. The fries were also very good, very good toppings on top of freshly fried french fries. I would probably share this dish with 3-4 people because it is huge! Overall, great burritos in beautiful San Diego. Must try!

I've been in San Diego for about a year now, but I hadn't been to Lucha Libre (LL) until recently, thanks to two friends who were visiting from out of town. They had seen a LL feature on "The Food Network" and wanted to go, so that was their first San Diego stop straight from the airport. I didn't even know LL was that close to the airport, but since we got there around 11 p.m., it was nice to NOT have to wait in long lines and leisurely enjoy our late-night snack. Fortunately, the legendary "champions" booth cleared out shortly after we arrived, so my friends and I got to enjoy our larger-than-life burritos from the winner's circle. My friends especially enjoyed tasting the variety of salsas to accompany our complimentary chips and burritos. Here's what we got: "Surf and Turf Burrito": Because this was the burrito that was featured on "The Food Network," my friends wanted to try it to see if it was as good as it looked. The verdict: A hands-down YES. This burrito includes grilled steak, shrimp, avocado slices, pico de gallo, rice and the eatery's super secret chipotle sauce. My two friends shared this burrito since we were eating pretty late, but they said they enjoyed the medley of flavors. They said the steak was flavorful and paired nicely with the succulent shrimp, an they really liked that secret chipotle sauce as well. "Classic California Burrito": I had my first "California Burrito" when I moved down to San Diego, but I had to experience the one from LL. I chose the pollo asado as my meat--I've had carne asada in burritos before, so I was looking for something different--and I ordered my burrito sans the pico and with sour cream on the side. In true "California Burrito" fashion, this burrito came with fresh French fries and cheese. I really, really enjoyed the LL version of this SD burrito staple. The meat was tender, flavorful and easy to chew--I think the first time I got a California Burrito, the steak pieces were too chewy for my liking--but this one was more easily digestible. I didn't end up using the sour cream, but the tortilla itself tasted fresh and the burrito was generously loaded with all the necessary components -- meat, cheese and fries. I was especially pleased that the fries were soft and spongy, and they, too, tasted really fresh. "DDT Loaded Baked Potato": I do love baked potatoes, and though burritos are all the rage here, I do want to try this dish at some point. I would get it with grilled chicken, and it also includes shrimp, bacon, mushrooms, melted cheese and that super secret chipotle sauce. "Undefeated Seafood Burrito": I haven't had too many seafood burritos in my lifetime, mostly because I tend to not like so many of their ingredients, but this one actually sounds good. You get your choice of grilled blackened mahi mahi or grilled shrimp; I would probably go for the mahi. The burrito also comes filled with Jack cheese, shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, blans beans and a creamy serrano sauce. I would get my burrito without the pico and beans, but everything else in there sounds absolutely amazing. Depending on my mood, I might get that grilled shrimp instead of the mahi ... "Undefeated Seafood Taco": If I'm in the mood for tacos over burritos, this is one that I would want to try. It contains the same ingredients as its burrito counterpart, and again, I would just order my taco without the pico (and this one comes with no beans). For the taco, I would probably want to try the grilled shrimp option, and I anticipate trying the creamy serrano sauce. "Queso Taco": This is one of the other LL tacos that I want to try, simply because it sounds super heavy on the cheese. It basically features grilled crispy cheese with your choice of steak, chicken or fresh fries; it comes topped with more cheese, avocado slices and the eatery's special sauce. Depending on my mood, I would go for the chicken or fries, and I can't wait to indulge in ALL that crispy cheese. "The Pancake Burrito": If I ever came to LL for breakfast, this is definitely what I would want to order. Pancakes tend to be my breakfast go-tos, but this one is very different because it's a savory option. It features home-style potatoes, chorizo, ham, bacon and bell peppers, and it comes topped with two over easy eggs and that super secret chipotle sauce. I would order this burrito without the bell peppers, but everything else sounds like it would make for an award-winning combo. "Breakfast Queso Taco": This is the other breakfast item that I would want to get if I visited LL for breakfast. It features grilled crispy cheese with home style potatoes, egg and chorizo and it comes topped with avocado, queso enchilado and that super secret chipotle sauce. I would order my queso taco sans avocado and queso, but the cheese-potato-egg-chorizo mix sounds super savory and flavorful.

It's been over 4 years since I moved to San Diego and I finally made it to Lucha Libre... and when you wait that long, you got to go in Like a Boss. Oh yes... CHAMPIONS BOOTH. My gal pals reserved the glittery booth online and when we rolled up to the little spot on Friday night, we were a bit worried because the line was out the door. But worry not! When you're a Champion and have reservations at the Booth, you stroll right in. The booth is definitely the way to go. The fabulous obnoxious decor alone (gold booth, sequenced table, champs belt, glittery rope to block out the non-champs, trophy chips/salsa holder, etc.) had me sold me but along that comes table service! That's right friends....at the end of the day, Lucha is a taqueria where you stand in line, order and grab whichever table is available. But when you're a Champ, you simply pull on the bell cord or bang on the table bell and an awesome staff member pops up like magic. I'm not kidding...from bell ringing to someone showing up at our table was 15..maybe 30 seconds. Love it. On to the food... - Yep, I'm all about the salsas. As a condiment hoarder, if there are 10-12 options in front of me, I must try them all! And the creamy-cilantro situation was on point - I went for the Surfin' California Burrito filled with grilled steak, plump shrimp, fries and all the fixins'. And they did not skimp on the proteins! It was jammed pack and totally delicious. You definitely get your moneys worth. - My pals really liked their dishes that ranged from Queso Tacos (crispy cheesy taco), Veggie Tacos and Champion's Nachos... Food was great, service was extremely attentive and ambiance was on point. We'll definitely be back...in the Champions Booth of course! ps. And of course we had to rock the colorful hair while lounging in the booth with our tasty food and cold cervezas . When it Doubt--Wig it Out!!!

I'm giving this 3 stars because I'm tired of seeing lines because of a food network program. I promise that you've been to a cash only hole in the wall taco shop that's way better. This has become a tourist trap. IT ISN'T A BAD PLACE AND THE FOOD ISN'T TERRIBLE, but I promise once you go one time, you won't be banging down the door to go again. I promise. I was going there off and on long before the food network ever showed face, and not after as it's an absolute laugh how people wait up the street for average Mexican food.

For years I wondered why there would be a visible line at a taco shop in San Diego that rolls out to the street. Now I know. The food is different than any other taco shop in town, in a good way. The ambiance is so outrageously comical you have to enjoy it. Good place to bring folks that are visiting too. This place is very San Diego. Chicano pride shoved in your face via dripping munchie deliciousness while making you laugh at life. Cons - Parking can be a challenge and you have to be willing to wait for food and a seat.

With so many good taco/burrito shops in San Diego you have to ask the question why? If I am reviewing Lucha Libre as a California-Mexican fusion taco shop then I must give you 4 stars but as a San Diego taco shop I must give you 3. The Good- The quality of ingredients and quantity of ingredients by far are superior to most places. The size and quality of the shrimp used in the Surfin' California burrito is superior to most taco shops. The Surfin' burrito and probably the most popular item here has the right blend of ingredients and the secret chipotle sauce ties everything together. The carne asada burrito was filled with juicy and well cooked carne asada. It is also filled with a generous portion of guacamole. The Champion Fries use the same quality of carne asada and fries used in the Surfin' California. The fries are covered with a heaping scoop of guacamole, carne asada, pico de gallo, and sour cream. The decor of the place is great and fits the name well. The guacamole used in the items I tried had the right consistency and flavor you would expect. The Ugly- Parking can be very difficult so if you see anything open on the side of the street, down the street, anywhere take it and enjoy the walk. I had to risk my life parking along the narrow shoulder of Washington Ave. be careful! We know this place is always packed so just prepare yourself to wait. The staff does a good job at moving the line along but the line can be long. It can be also very difficult to find a seat so be prepared to watch like a hawk for an opening to sit. Remember don't assume there is rice and beans in a burrito like the carne asada burrito. The Carne Asada burrito will literally just be a ton of meat, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Most items are just overly portioned and everything is just dumped together. I can see were the hype comes from overly sized portions, unique options, and affordable. With so many good places for "mexican" food in San Diego I can't give this place more than 3 stars. If you do try this place come here with the vision of California-Mexican-American fusion not Mexican food or you will be disappointed.

Hot as balls. I don't understand why they don't have AC in here. It's a small taco shop with a long line. We opted to make reservations at the champions booth for my first experience which was totally the way to go. Service was great (you have your very own bell to ring if you want anything at all), and the food was delicious. My reservation was at 7pm and when we arrived there was someone sitting in the booth we reserved and the girls up front seemed to be confused about our reservation. Needless to say, they were able to clear everything up and get us seated quickly. The only issues that I had is when we went to pay at the end they were having issues with their credit card machine and ended up running our cards twice. They assured us that it would only be closed out once, but we all have double charges on our account. We are currently waiting for the manager to reach back out to us to reverse these charges before we go the dispute route so I hope they are able to resolve it quickly. They need to invest in some AC, otherwise I would suggest you sit outside or get food togo.

I read the reviews from my friends and I happen to be close by with a little time on my hands so figured I would try them out. For starters, parking is a challenge. I actually drove right past and by the time I saw the restaurant, I couldn't stop and back up and had to continue along. The difficulty is that you can't just make a u-turn and it's not as simple as going a block and coming back around. You actually have to go quite a distance to get back so when looking for this place, look carefully. Maybe it was fortuitous because by the time I got back, there was a parking spot right in front. I had heard about the lines and fortunately, there wasn't a big line. I actually walked inside and there were maybe four or five people ahead of me. I wasn't familiar with the menu but had plenty of time to review as it's prominently displayed overhead. I am a huge taco lover but not a fan of all the "gourmet tacos" and was disappointed that they didn't also serve just regular traditional tacos but I guess that's what makes this place different and why I didn't find it as good as some of my friends who reviewed it. To be fair, we ordered quite a bit just to be sure we had tried more than just one item. We got the "Tap Me Out" taco with grilled chicken, veggies, melted cheese and avocado slices and a Poblano sauce. This was just okay. I really can't say much more because there wasn't anything special and we didn't even finish eating it. Next up was the Surf and Turf taco with steak and shrimp, avocado and covered in a special sauce. I didn't care for the combination and ate the shrimp separately. The steak with the special sauce was okay. Last taco was the Queso Taco with steak, cheese and special sauce with avocado. Really no different from the Surf & Turf, just without the shrimp. Last, we had the Smackdown Quesadilla with grilled chicken breast and grilled veggies and melted cheese with sour cream and guacamole. We had a bite of it and ended up throwing the whole thing out. It's really about 75% veggies which are dripping out all over the place; about 15% chicken (actually I never really tasted any chicken) and less than 10% cheese (more like 5% if even that). It was just a big tortilla filled with grilled veggies that were dripping all over the place and barely any meat and rare if any cheese. They give you a small tray of chips to eat while you are waiting and when I say small, it would take about three to equal what you would normally get at a restaurant that serves chips and salsa before your meal. Considering we ordered three tacos, a quesadilla and a large order of guacamole, you would think they would have given us more chips. Sure, we could have asked... but why should we have to ask? By the way, forgot to mention the guacamole. They have two sizes.... small or large. Let me tell you the small is REALLY small. The small is literally a tablespoon. She showed me the cup and I laughed because I thought it was a joke. I laughed until I realized she wasn't laughing and realized she was serious. I can't even believe they try to sell the small and particularly for the price they charge. They do have a nice array of salsas that are nice and spicy and they do offer up carrots with jalapenos which were very tasty. I will add that as I'm writing this I noticed on their website they advertise "classic" tacos and burritos. However, when I look at the picture of the menu from the actual restaurant, it says "don't see your favorite classic tacos & burritos? Just ask" For some reason as many times as we scoured the menu when we were waiting in line, we did not see this. But having seen it, I think I will make a trip back someday just to try the classic tacos that I crave. Overall, not bad but not worth the rave reviews posted by so many. I would challenge those who have been here to try Tacos El Gordo in Chula Vista. There you will find the most authentic tacos with absolutely incredible meat.

This place reminds of the movie, "Nacho Libre" (Nachooooooooooooooooooooooooooo). The restaurant is just screams luchador wrestlers from the gold Champs Booth to the soda fountain labeled with luchador face masks. Wrestlers and Mexican food are two of my husband's favorite things and when I found this place on Yelp, he was eager to come here. He had the Classic California Burrito with french fries and steak while I had the Surf and Turf Tacos. There was a self-serve bar with different salsa choices. The salsas were fresh and spicy and added a kick to each bite of our food. Everything was tasted great. I'm pretty sure if we lived in San Diego, my husband would make us eat here at least once a week.

5 stars if you are looking for an amazing burrito - we had the surfin California which has a perfect blend of shrimp (big ones), carne asana, french fries, sliced avocado, cheese, chipotle sauce and slightly toasted to make the tortilla crispy and all for $7.95. The sauces are delicious and free refills on sodas and chips. The wait is long, but it does move quickly. Weird but there were more Asians at this place than anywhere I've been in San Diego - now I know where they all hang out ;)

This place has a lot of hype and because of that hype it makes you very excited to want to eat here. The line is usually outside the door and today it took 35 mins to get my food after ordering. I give the salsa bar a 5 out of 5. But the rest of the food is average. The quality of the tacos wasn't up to par compared to authentic mexican tacos or even San Diego mexican food. The rolled tacos are a waste of money- they came out so hot that the tacos burnt a hole through the styrofoam plates. And lastly they charge $4.50 a taco- that's expensive for taco standards. Worth going there once to experience the hype.

Luca Libre isn't the super-authentic Mexican taco shop experience that you can find here in SD, but its no joke, this place cranks out some seriously bomb tacos, burritos and enchiladas! The salsa bar is NOT to be overlooked. In fact, take advantage of that &^$*, it might be one of the best around... Also, I haven't tried this unthinkable, warm, folded, glory to all breakfast thing they call the Huevos Rancheros burrito, but I CANNOT wait to try it! Hit em up! You won't be disappointed.

Lucha Libre won my heart the first time I went when i discovered that they gave complimentary, freshly hot chips and over 6 different types of salsa to accommodate it. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was amazing. The second time I went (the food shown in the picture), I was not too impressed. My friend and I both ordered the Surfin' California burrito. I ordered it in the "Make it Light" combo version with corn (that was very sour) and vegetables (not ones I could finish). I love Lucha Libre, but I think things depend on what you order and when you go. I would stick with the breakfast burrito and the hot dog as solid choices!

"Yelp Review Challenge 2015 - 11" I love Lucha Libre! They are very consistent with their food, which is always tasty. I usually get the Chicken Enchiladas with Green Sauce and a T.J. Corn. Always good. Their salsa bar has killer options, the cucumber one is my fav! They have chips and salsa available, just ask. There is always a line. Always. Just be prepared for this. However, it goes surprisingly quickly and you can always call your order in and pick it up (to go only, there is a separate line for this). If you have a special celebration, you can eat at the golden table for the full experience. Totally gonna do this!! First thought: very unique California burritos here! My friend and I came here on a Wednesday night, but it was still popping with a huge line. It took waiting in line for 15 minutes before I had the chance to order. I loved the atmosphere of the store. It was very cultured; the walls were decorated with photos and displayed various wrestling masks. There's a champion seat that you can reserve online that's like a golden sofa. Definitely the seat for attention if you're looking to be an eye catcher! I grabbed the Surf N' Turf burrito. There was a lot of different flavor going on in the burrito, including avocado and shrimp. It was not as dense as other normal burritos, but was still very filling, even though I shared half. I don't regret having my final meal from my San Diego trip here. I will be coming back to try their other burritos along with tacos!

Well I came all the way from L.A. to try these burritos so I decided to book the champions booth. It was a great experience with great service, and you definitely do feel special.Now let's get on to the important part the food.I tried the Surfin California, TJ Hotdog, Veggie Hot Dog, and of course the free chips and salsa. Everything was expertly crafted and delicious, but by far the highlight was the Surfin California. The way that all the elements came together was perfect. From the marinated shrimp to carne asada the meat was high quality. However the French fries aren't crispy enough so they don't really add anything to the burrito. This food may not be authentic Mexican food, but it is really good.

Well first off this place is famous. It's on tv so it attracts tons of people. The parking sucks and you can always count on a line. The seating is limited and it kills me every time I see the champions corner with no one in it. You have to reserve the corner a day in advance. So why would you bother coming to a place that has such a hard time accommodating its customers with seating, parking and wait times? Because good sirs and ladies the surf and turf burrito will blow your freaking MIND!!! The whole selection of food is mucho gusto, and the feeling of victory you will achieve once you find a seat is unbelievable. They say it's almost the same as what a luchador feels when he is victorious in the ring! All and all if your visiting SD you must got and try either the surf and turf or a California burrito!

I always like to order the Surfin California burrito here. The meat are juicy and tender. The avocado and pico de gallo are fresh. Portions are huge. Its a very small place and there is always a line but the line goes by quick. I never had a problem trying to find a table because people come in to order, eat, and leave by the time others are coming in. I really like their different choices of hot sauce. I think the other bad thing about this place is parking. Besides the place being small their parking lot is also small and its a shared lot between the other businesses around them. What I like to do is call in my order and take it togo because its faster that way.

Finally on Monday I called again and they tell me they do not cater to parties less than 50 people. Still no email response. My wife and I booked 2 round-trip tickets from San Diego to Seattle on Alaska Airlines on 5-16-15. Using our locator number, AITPSX, we reserved two aisle seats. These seats were confirmed ours by Alaska Air. But on 6-28-15, while reviewing our seat numbers on line, we learned, that Alaska Air changed our aisle seats for middle seats far from each other in the rear of the plane. Alaska Air never notified us of this change in seating. After contacting Alaska Air customer service to complain, we were upset that they refused to reinstate our aisle seats or make any compensation for our loss. We chose to fly this airline because there was no extra charge for aisle seats and we booked early to insure we obtained aisle seats. Had we known that Alaska Air would remove our reservation without notification, we would have booked on American Airlines and paid extra for aisle seats. Alaska Air doesn't live up to its commitments. We will never fly on Alaska Air again.

After years of hearing the rave reviews, we decided to endure the frustration of finding a parking spot. After shuffling through the long line, I ordered the Surfing California with a side of black beans; my wife ordered the chicken queso taco with beans and corn. We got our food, and, with the typical excitement of diving into famous dishes, my wife was greeted with dry chicken, bland tortilla, and insipid beans; myself an underwhelming burrito with mushy fries and chewy meat that was no better than one from a two star Mexican drive thru. The tortilla chips were good, but the salsa bar was filthy. As the line continued to grow, we looked down at our unfinished plates and wondered what the big deal was about the place. Maybe the unique ambience? We left the joint having felt like we dropped $20 in the hole for bland, mediocre food. Overrated to the max. We'll never come back.

Kinda cheesy in the theme but holy cow those tacos tho. I got the land and sea tacos and the elote corn. The tacos were bomb, get them and thank me later (the land and sea burrito were apparently the same but with rice in a burrito form, also good). The elote corn was runny and I'm used to corn being dry so I wasn't a big fan of that. The milky looking green sauce they had is the sauce of the gods and I could probably straight up drink it.

This place was so "meh," it hurt. Visiting San Diego and popped into Lucha Libre tonight with my better half. We split a Surfin' California burrito and upgraded to a Pro Meal, opting for the TJ corn and a mini salad as our sides. The burrito was a real disappointment. Every component was lukewarm and mushy, except for the steak which was lukewarm and stringy (hooray for at least one contrasting texture?).The steak had a strong, unpleasant flavor to it, but the shrimp and the accompanying "secret" chipotle sauce were both palatable. The TJ Corn tasted like Green Giant Niblets with some limey sour cream on top. The salad looked so sad, we just couldn't bring ourselves to put it out of its misery. It was a decent, edible meal, but it's not one I would recommend to anyone. I would give this three stars, but the overall lack of effort that went into what could have (and should have) been a simple, delicious meal has earned this place a 2.

Parking was annoying, but the place itself is pretty entertaining. Lots of interesting stuff to look at. They had like 10 different salsas to choose from. They weren't labeled so I just tried them all, and all were good. I had the cheese enchiladas with mole and the portion was pretty generous. I couldn't finish it, but it was delicious! My boyfriend had the surf n' turf burrito. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, not too dry, and had a unique sauce. You know how you feel fat and disgusting after eating a carne asad a burrito? You should definitely dine in at least once for the funky decor and atmosphere but with that said, it's personally not my scene. It's pretty small and loud and it was very hot in there when I went but I'm sure most people don't mind it, I'm just weird. I'd come back for some take out for sure!

Did I miss something here or order the wrong thing? First off the line....... I guess it's better to just order ahead! The staff was great the order taker in the front had lots of personality and although it was quite busy he still made it a point to strike conversation which I always love, because of the long line and heat my aunt which is older and a diabetic was feeling really sick, a young lady made an exception and allowed us to be seated before getting to place our order, thank you so very much! I ordered the beef rolled tacos.....unfortunately that's where I wasn't pleased, mine were more like rolled tortillas infused with fish flavor. My tacos had no meat! Like none! Yes, Yes. Adam Richman came here for an episode of Man Vs. Food. Blah blah blah. Yes, the Surf and Turf Burrito is very good. Whatever. But really, my favorite item on the menu was the Cilantro Cream Sauce! Wait, it's NOT on the menu?!? Well, it should be!! Maybe list it under drinks, because I would down that like a 32oz cup of Horchata!! On the other hand, I would need to visit my cardiologist right after. Anyway, chugging sauce toppings aside, this place has pretty good food. The TJ-style tacos are pretty good (I mean, it's wrapped in bacon! Why wouldn't it be?!). They have a Huevos Rancheros BURRITO! And, my favorite, a queso taco which has a layer of grilled crispy cheese! What's not to like about that! The place is small and almost always has a long line out the door and onto the sidewalk. If you're one of the lucky ones and are able to get a seat, I recommend buying a lotto ticket because it's probably your lucky day! Just don't pick the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42. Trust me.

Ahhh just as I remembered! I haven't been to SD in a few years, but the only thing I could think about was a surfin Cali the whole time I was here. Finally, when we arrived, I was disappointed to see how long the line was, but it's understandable because everyone wants a surfin Cali. After waiting about 30 minutes (yes, it's well worth the wait) I finally got to sink my teeth into my long lost burrito and my was it glorious! Steak, shrimp, avocado, French fries, and of course, the secret sauce! Ok I'm getting one for the plane ride home, I just hope they don't make me check it as luggage! Not sure what all the hype is all about. I really think this place is very, no extremely average at best. Huge line with employees and cooks standing around in the back and at the counter? Why we waited in line for an average even less than average food is beyond me. Also they are just slow at taking orders and processing the people. Salsa bar is the best part of this place. It's super hot no AC inside, I had the surf and turf burrito, my GF had the California burrito and we split the Champion Nachos. Huge disappointment, I cannot recommend this place large portions but average food at best fries in a burrito doesn't make this a "Hot Spot". Slow service huge line average food at best. We had almost 8 people with us not a single person was impressed.

I think anyone who knows me knows about my love for Lucha Libre and how frequently I visit. This is the only place I go to eat burritos. I used to go almost every week for a few months (when I wasn't as busy) and still consistently go today. My go-to order is the classic California burrito with extra carne asada and no sour cream or pico. They have NEVER made a mistake on my order. Although it may seem bland to most, it's perfect for me! The flavor of the carne asada is spot on. And I mean, who doesn't love some good fries! Their chips are also pretty good. I can't seem to stop eating them when placed in front of me. No matter how many times I tell myself to stop, my hand just grabs another. Beware though, the inside of the restaurant gets pretty toasty. If you're waiting in line (which shoots out the door more times than not) be prepared to enter a chamber of heat! Today almost all the workers were sweating. I think it's time to invest in air conditioning. Not only will the customers enjoy it, but I think the staff would too! My only real complaint is that they are not always consistent with their burritos. I've had days where my burrito is about to burst. But I've also had days where my burrito is under stuffed. However, that won't stop me from going to Lucha Libre! Overall, I just love this place. Dine in or take out, you have my heart Lucha Libre, it's yours.

Tends to get really busy at lunch time. I suggest heading over to their new location in North Park where there is more parking options and is less crowded.

What do I have to try from San Diego that I can't get anywhere else? -Phil's, Extraordinary Desserts, Lucha Libre. Done, done, and DONE! This was basically my San Diego weekend as my friends and I loaded up on carbohydrates before the marathon only to stuff our faces afterwards. Fun weekend, no? I read up a lot about this place before actually going, so I had a fairly good idea of what's popular. Lucha Libre is pretty small, with only a few tables as well as their famous "Champion" table. But people are in and out pretty fast, so it's not too hard to secure a table for your party if you stand around and wait. The restaurant is decked out with interesting Lucha Libre decorations that keeps this place unique. You're technically not allowed to hold a table until you order (I think), so while I was standing in that long line and watching people take bites out of the food, I changed my mind several times about what I wanted to order. I ended up settling on a California Burrito half special, where you only get 1/2 of the burrito along with a salad, corn, a drink, and unlimited tortilla chips. Needless to say, that was a good decision as I had a difficult time finishing half a burrito. California Burrito: It was good. I can see why people really like it, but as someone who isn't too crazy about Mexican food, it was just okay. I liked the flavor, and the meat was cooked well, but nothing amazing about it. I did like the fact that they stuffed French fries in the burrito. That made it more unique, although if they didn't do that, I probably would have done that on my own! Carne Asada Fries: My friends ordered the fries to share as a group, and these were pretty darn amazing. If you're a fan of French fries, sour cream, guacamole, carne asada ... basically if you want to stuff yourself full, you'll like these fries. I think the French fries could have been cooked crispier, but you honesty really don't mind once you dig into the fries and get the salsa, guacamole, sour cream, yeah. Hot dog and quesadilla: Nothing special, but these items were tasty from the few bites that I tried. I think what really makes Lucha Libre so popular is their salsa bar. It isn't your ordinary El Pollo Loco salsa bar (although there's nothing wrong with their salsas), but it's filled with unique salsa flavors that really add a kick to whatever you're adding it to. My favorite was the cilantro salsa (light and refreshing), but the mango ones were also really tasty. tl;dr - Prices aren't too high and you definitely get a lot of food that will make you pretty full within a few bites. Lines get really long, so try to avoid coming during lunch/dinner rush hours. If this place didn't have their popular salsa bar with endless tortilla chips, I probably would only give it 3 stars.

I went to this place when I first moved to San Diego because everyone kept telling me I had to go there. I'm glad I did because this is a neat restaurant that is pretty much all about the atmosphere. Not to say that I didn't like the food because I loved the Holy Moly burrito that I ordered. It's just that the theme is the big draw. I love wrestling and I love lucha libre style, so seeing all of the luchador masks was awesome. They even had an old-school luchador movie playing on the tv the entire time, which me and my friends loved. And I'm not sure how much the discount is, but you do get a discount on your food if you order while wearing a luchador mask. To me, the only negatives are that parking can be iffy and the lines can be long. We drove around for a while during lunch hour rush before we lucked out on a parking spot out front. And the line to order was really long that day, but it was worth the wait for the food. There's enough to look at in the tiny restaurant that you will be entertained while waiting to order. So, if you live in San Diego or even if you're just visiting, come see this place!

Food: 4 out of 5 I ordered the surf & turf burrito, the boyfriend got the veg out and we made that a pro meal; comes with two sides and a fountain drink. All orders come with chips and you get all the salsa at their salsa bar. I enjoyed my burrito, the shrimp add cooked nicely but the steak was too tough. My boyfriends veg out burrito was more like a veggie wrap. He wished it was more like a burrito with beans and salsa and some rice. The sides we chose were the TJ corn. It was pretty good. I also tried the infamous white cream cilantro sauce and it was mediocre. It could've used a little more salt and maybe some lime. All you taste is cream and cilantro. Ambiance: 3 out of 5 It was too hot and stuffy inside. All though all ceiling fans were on high it was too hot and sweaty skin on vinyl don't well together. All in all a good place to check out at least once when visiting SD.

This is one of my fave spots. Not because it's been on travel channel or that there are long lines out the door, but because of their Surf n' Turf burrito (carne asada/shrimp) and cilantro salsa. You'll be tasting the garlic from the salsa in your system for about 24 hours but it's worth it. You have to wait in the line to order before you can get in the place, hence the long line out the door, but it moves fairly quickly. It's not quite a hole in the wall type of taco shop but it's still a taco shop, so I wouldn't consider it fancy eats. It's small, can get hot and could use a good clean up every few hours but hey, it's a slip and dip kind of place. Fast food, if you will. I typically come here after a night of drinking. Parking is limited to street parking or the parking lot by the liquor store (after hours) but I've never had a problem parking.

The place is so small, hard to find parking, there was a 30 minute wait, and you can't find a seat until you get your food. It's uncomfortable to sit and eat your food when you see the long line of people looking for a seat. The food is good, very large portions, and endless chips and salsa. I enjoyed the food very much, I think next time I go I'd make sure I was very hungry. The whole place is decorated with the Lucha Libre theme but the bathrooms are clean and spacious. A neat place to eat!

Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop. This place is now iconic thanks to Man Vs. Food. If you are looking for a ghetto, cheap, authentic, mexican place...this place is NOT for you. Lucha Libre does have its gourmet factor, a little bit more on the pricier end (just a teeny weeny bit more), but the food here offers a LOT more in depth in terms of flavor profile. If I were to describe this shop...it would be gourmet mexican w/ A CRAP TON OF DELICIOUS FLAVORS! The salsa bar and all of the salsa supplied by Lucha Libre are all absolutely amazing. I've been to plenty of Mexican Restaurants in my time, and never have I ever gotten up and refilled so many damn salsa containers in one sitting! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! UNTIL THEN!! ^-^

My last supper in San Diego and man was it divine. My brother and I decided to come here because of the great reviews and because it's close to the airport. The wait was a little over 20 minutes but completely worth it. I think they actually like to keep the wait that long because they only had one cashier ringing people up, but plenty of staff around. Luckily, a lot of people ordered to go and even though we thought we wouldn't be able to find seats, there were tons by the time we ordered our food. Love that they give you chips to hungrily munch on while you wait for your food. There is a salsa bar with so many delicious salsas, we tried them all. We then ordered a feast consisting of the Classic California Burrito, Surf & Turf Burrito, and Tap Me Out Taco. Yum yum yum. We couldn't finish the food at all, but we definitely tried. All three things were so delicious and neither of us could pick a favorite item. They were all so different and wonderful in their own way: the California Burrito giving you a heart attack in every bite from those greasy, but heavenly fries; the Surf & Turf Burrito with steak and shrimp and a delicious sauce; and the Tap Me Out Taco with a delicious corn tortilla and sweet flavor in every bite...yum. I really want Lucha Libre now, can they deliver to the East Coast? Ambiance is silly and fun. The decor is over-the-top with pink and gold and tons of pictures of Lucha Libres. When we were there, they brought out a fake Lucha Libre who walked around, took selfies with people, and most importantly, gave every table a Skip the Line token! Win!!! Definitely going to come in handy because I'm going to find a way to come back.

This little gem is my favorite taco shop ever!! My boyfriend and I love coming down to San Diego whenever we need to take a break from LA or when we are craving a mini daycation. My friend had suggested this place the first time we drove down to SD and I have been in love ever since. Every time I go to SD I'm always tempted to try new places but this is definitely the one constant. My go to meal is the surf & turf taco and the queso taco. The surf and turf has steak and shrimp with avocado and this yummy creamy special sauce. The queso taco has this delicious grilled cheese on the tortilla which is amazing!!! The tacos are really big so sometimes I'll just get one with rice and beans. Everything comes with free chips and the salsa bar (the green creamy sauce is the best)! Overall, I think it's a quality taco shop if you're ever in the area :)

Lucha Libre is now coasting on its reputation. Apparently, the press of business has lead to a decline in quality. I was an OG (hipster) customer before the TV show and loved the place. I admired their success, but stopped going as frequently once the line got too long. After a long absence, I went back and got a Surf and Turf burrito yesterday. It tasted like the Hormel or Carl Buddig version of what I remembered. The shrimp were no longer the dry, sweet, firm-textured high quality variety. They tasted like the slimy, fishy 40ct frozen shrimp you might find in your grandma's freezer. The carne asada was dry, a bit sinewy and had little flavor. Turf -- literally!! I would not be surprised if they actually sourced it from Hormel. I was disappointed. This place used to set itself apart with its quality of ingredients but now it was borderline gross. I guess tourists won't know the difference!! It was also uncomfortably stuffy and hot inside during the lunch hour. On the bright side, the salsas were still good. I will try them one more time. I'm hoping it was just an off day.

Thanks yelp for leading me to this amazing place. It was on Man vs food so we had to try it. My boyfriend is a big foodie and we left here both full for $11.00. We got the California Burrito which was full of flavor, the Tj hot dog which was wrapped in bacon and a side of corn. This is a must try and the place was clean, which always makes me happy.

Tough to park. Line gets long. But damn that's a good burrito. California burrito from man vs food was pretty damn good. Another good way to get this is at Petco park and watch a nice baseball game.

After what was usually good experiences with Lucha Libre, I had a bad one. On a busy Father's day we tried a take-out order. They put us on hold for 5 minutes, then hung up, then hung up again when we re-called. After ordering, they said 10 minutes. When we arrived on time, they said it wasn't ready. After 20 minutes, they said, "oh it was ready the whole time just sitting here." So the food was cold. Beyond the bad customer service the food was unpleasant--even microwaved. Lesson: go to Nico's/El Zarape next time.

Lucha Libre is a must visit when in San Diego. An experience like no other. Thank goodness I live here and can go whenever I want. Get the Queso steak taco. One is enough so be warned. Their surf and turf burrito is large enough for 2. Never had a bad meal and have always had a lot of fun. I love looking at the old Mexican wrestling movies that are constantly playing. One of the best Mexican Taco shops in San Diego.

Was in town with friends and somebody's brother in law told us if we didn't go here, we would "regret it for the rest of our lives". Well, who wants that? We arrived 5 minutes before they began serving lunch. Plenty of time to check out the salsa bar. The beautiful, beautiful salsa bar. The first one that caught my eye was a green one. Looked like some sort of creamy cilantro concoction. I put it in my cup. Took a little taste...yep! Cilantro! I'll take 3 of those, thank you very much. Ordered the California with steak and held the pico. I know, I know. I had other plans for this burrito (see beautiful salsa bar). The burrito was huge! It was full of steak and cheese and (Jesus take the wheel) french fries! YES!!!! I may or may not have been drinking a little and may or may not have devoured the entire thing in one sitting...without a fork. Let's just say, thank goodness I had tums. My boyfriend had the breakfast queso taco. Okay, two of them. Two of my friends ordered TJ dogs. They ate them before I could get pictures. They were wrapped in bacon. So, for you bacon lovers ... this is for you! I cannot wait to go back to this place. I love carne asada fries and chilaquiles. So I am getting both!

Located right next to my work - it's an awesome place to escape to for a quick and fun lunch. Being a creature of habit, I pretty much always get their taco that is wrapped in the lettuce leaf. Sooo good and healthy. Their salsa bar is pretty great too, lots of variety.

I love Lucha Libre! Great Hole in the wall restaurant. If you haven't been here yet, youre missing out on a SD favorite. They have a great theme (lucha fighters) so its great to bring your tourists friends or kids. (BTW I love the anchorman trashcan) They have fresh food. If you go here I recommend the Surfing California Burrito or Taco! or any of the Surf and Turfs. Theyre pretty big so I usually can share. If you dine in they also give you chips which is a bonus!

This place is okay, nothing too special about the food. I got the surfin california burrito and Carne asada fries. Burrito seemed empty and unflavorful and the fries were soggy haha. It's okay food, the sauces are good though and the whipped pineapple drink. Come here for the sauces and the whipped pineapple drink lol.

I've been wanting to visit since before it was featured on Man v Food. Finally did it! Definitely smaller than thought, but nice and quaint in a way. Saw the infamous booth! Went during a Friday lunch, fortunately I was able to snag the last spot in the lot. Got to the line, was happily surprised it wasn't long yet. But man, it didn't move. Is it because there's only one cashier? And some people take a long time ordering?? 2nd cash register, please? I ordered a surf and turf to go. Saw the pile of chips, the ones that are supposedly complimentary and come with your meal. I didn't get any, and after looking at it, I didn't ask for it. The salsa bar had a great variety. I, of course, look for the most spiciest one. I got the most reddish one, the green/cucumber, and the brown/mild salsas. Also got the carrots. Got back to work and was happy with the size of the burrito. Review of the burrito, it was alright. The meat was flavorful, but wasn't as tender as I was hoping for, or cut.. Chunky meat and I had to chew more than I'd like to. The salsas were good. My fave, surprisingly, was the green one. Carrots were flavorful, but not fully pickled. Overall, I might come back, but it's not one of those types where I need to come back 'cause it was that great! Staff is friendly and upbeat. I think they should really consider getting a 2nd cashier, it'll help the lines move faster. Also, waiting for salsa in the cramp layout isn't ideal. They should renovate the current layout. Make the salsa/fountain drink section more open and not cramp. And PARKING.. plan accordingly, or good luck.

I've wanted to go here ever since I saw it on Man v Food, and I wasn't disappointed. I had to try the Surfin California Burrito, and it was tasty. Just the right amount of heat, but I would have liked more fries in it. However, the blackened Mahi taco was spot-on. I'll definitely be coming back.

A Mexican joint for aspiring Rey Mysterios. B+ Burritos, A+ Atmosphere! As a die hard (and forever proud) wrestling fanatic, this was a must try. Old school luchador-style matches play on the TVs of the establishment and a large amount of wrestling merchandise, luchador masks, wrestler signatures, and title belts adorn the walls. The burritos were of decent quality, but seriously, come here for the sheer awesome ridiculousness of the environment. Have a luchador mask hidden in your closet or attic, just waiting to be taken out and used? Fear not, for its day has come: discounts available for all masked clientele!

I drive by this place on the way home from work daily. I love Mexican food so much, that I literally go on adventures seeking out the best tacos and burritos I can find. When I noticed this place has a line out the door EVERY time I drive by, I had to scope it out. I did. I don't get it. I have no clue what and why people are eating here or worse, why they waste 20 minutes of their lives waiting around the block for it? It is absolutely not worth the wait or because it is the best taco stand in SD. Some will take offense to this, but let's call a spade a spade. This is nasty gringo white washed Mexican food. This is not a greasy spoon or authentic shack. It is more up the health kick ally and tastes like werewolf d*ck to me. I was so pissed off at the money I wasted, but more importantly my time. As I looked around, I couldn't help but notice emo, punk rock, rockabillys filling up the place. It seems to be a theme catered to this crowd and even though the food is garbage, it is the "cool" thing for them to pretend is the next best taco. Well I say horsesh*t. Worst taco joint ever. Never going back.

love this place! good food, good music, casual vibe and eclectic decor. this place is definitely my go-to to add some fun to my night! my favorite item is the california surfing burrito - nice big shrimp, good steak, fresh avocado, delicious fries, and creamy sauce! if there's one thing i've learned about burritos in california is if you don't have a big appetite, be sure to split your burrito with someone! these burritos are massive! they also offer a smaller burrito (yasss!) that comes with 2 sides of your choice. it's around the same price as a regular burrito, and tho it's smaller, the plate itself is still more than enough and filling! the carne asada fries = bomb. the white/green sauce tho!! ooooooweeee make sure you get that with your free chips and just drench everything with it. just take my wallet, lucha libre!

Nice place and good food. I ate the Surf & Turf burrito and it was really good. I have also tried the Undefeated seafood burrito (with shrimp) and I have to say that the seafood was defeated by the beans. Stingy quantity of shrimp and almost all full of black beans (at least they are very tasty, though). It is a little pricey compared to other spots but considering the "free" chips and the several delicious sauces you can have, they are money very well spent.

Not the same as it used to be. Got the surf n turf California burrito and took it home. When I got home to eat it, I noticed that the burrito was smaller than it used to be. The burrito was only 60% full. Most of the burrito was excess tortilla with not enough filling. Been going here for 2 years but I hope this place hasn't fallen off. This a San Diego go-to spot for all tourists because it was on TV and I hope they aren't cutting down to make more money

Oh man.. this place is awesome. We arrived at the place in afternoon and the line outside was pretty long but not too bad. I would say we waited about 15 minutes to order our food. The menu is nice and simple. They have a few specialties so I decided to try their surf n' turf and a side of asada fries. The food came out pretty quick, but what I was really amazed by was their salsa bar. They have a huge selection but.. the best out of the batch has to be there creamy cilantro sauce. I've tried this sauce from el pollo loco before and it is pretty tasty. Now note.. it is very easy to get carried away with eating too much of this sauce. This sauce is extremely heavy in fat because the base of this sauce is mayo and sour cream, but its so damn good. After my party got our food, it was quite a pain to get seats because it was so packed. I would recommend while you are waiting in line, if you are with a group a friends, have one of them get seats and you just order for them. It is much easier this way. The burrito was delicious, although I think most of it was drowned by the creamy cilantro sauce, which I think is the real star of this dish. The asada in my burrito was ok but the added shrimp was what really elevated this meal. The fries were also very good, very good toppings on top of freshly fried french fries. I would probably share this dish with 3-4 people because it is huge! Overall, great burritos in beautiful San Diego. Must try!

I've been in San Diego for about a year now, but I hadn't been to Lucha Libre (LL) until recently, thanks to two friends who were visiting from out of town. They had seen a LL feature on "The Food Network" and wanted to go, so that was their first San Diego stop straight from the airport. I didn't even know LL was that close to the airport, but since we got there around 11 p.m., it was nice to NOT have to wait in long lines and leisurely enjoy our late-night snack. Fortunately, the legendary "champions" booth cleared out shortly after we arrived, so my friends and I got to enjoy our larger-than-life burritos from the winner's circle. My friends especially enjoyed tasting the variety of salsas to accompany our complimentary chips and burritos. Here's what we got: "Surf and Turf Burrito": Because this was the burrito that was featured on "The Food Network," my friends wanted to try it to see if it was as good as it looked. The verdict: A hands-down YES. This burrito includes grilled steak, shrimp, avocado slices, pico de gallo, rice and the eatery's super secret chipotle sauce. My two friends shared this burrito since we were eating pretty late, but they said they enjoyed the medley of flavors. They said the steak was flavorful and paired nicely with the succulent shrimp, an they really liked that secret chipotle sauce as well. "Classic California Burrito": I had my first "California Burrito" when I moved down to San Diego, but I had to experience the one from LL. I chose the pollo asado as my meat--I've had carne asada in burritos before, so I was looking for something different--and I ordered my burrito sans the pico and with sour cream on the side. In true "California Burrito" fashion, this burrito came with fresh French fries and cheese. I really, really enjoyed the LL version of this SD burrito staple. The meat was tender, flavorful and easy to chew--I think the first time I got a California Burrito, the steak pieces were too chewy for my liking--but this one was more easily digestible. I didn't end up using the sour cream, but the tortilla itself tasted fresh and the burrito was generously loaded with all the necessary components -- meat, cheese and fries. I was especially pleased that the fries were soft and spongy, and they, too, tasted really fresh. "DDT Loaded Baked Potato": I do love baked potatoes, and though burritos are all the rage here, I do want to try this dish at some point. I would get it with grilled chicken, and it also includes shrimp, bacon, mushrooms, melted cheese and that super secret chipotle sauce. "Undefeated Seafood Burrito": I haven't had too many seafood burritos in my lifetime, mostly because I tend to not like so many of their ingredients, but this one actually sounds good. You get your choice of grilled blackened mahi mahi or grilled shrimp; I would probably go for the mahi. The burrito also comes filled with Jack cheese, shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, blans beans and a creamy serrano sauce. I would get my burrito without the pico and beans, but everything else in there sounds absolutely amazing. Depending on my mood, I might get that grilled shrimp instead of the mahi ... "Undefeated Seafood Taco": If I'm in the mood for tacos over burritos, this is one that I would want to try. It contains the same ingredients as its burrito counterpart, and again, I would just order my taco without the pico (and this one comes with no beans). For the taco, I would probably want to try the grilled shrimp option, and I anticipate trying the creamy serrano sauce. "Queso Taco": This is one of the other LL tacos that I want to try, simply because it sounds super heavy on the cheese. It basically features grilled crispy cheese with your choice of steak, chicken or fresh fries; it comes topped with more cheese, avocado slices and the eatery's special sauce. Depending on my mood, I would go for the chicken or fries, and I can't wait to indulge in ALL that crispy cheese. "The Pancake Burrito": If I ever came to LL for breakfast, this is definitely what I would want to order. Pancakes tend to be my breakfast go-tos, but this one is very different because it's a savory option. It features home-style potatoes, chorizo, ham, bacon and bell peppers, and it comes topped with two over easy eggs and that super secret chipotle sauce. I would order this burrito without the bell peppers, but everything else sounds like it would make for an award-winning combo. "Breakfast Queso Taco": This is the other breakfast item that I would want to get if I visited LL for breakfast. It features grilled crispy cheese with home style potatoes, egg and chorizo and it comes topped with avocado, queso enchilado and that super secret chipotle sauce. I would order my queso taco sans avocado and queso, but the cheese-potato-egg-chorizo mix sounds super savory and flavorful.

The place is decorated with lucha gear everywhere. They have an old school mic to call your name when your order is ready. The plays has character, we stopped in after picking up friends at the airport. There is a Champions table and it can be reserved with a party of four or more.

It's been over 4 years since I moved to San Diego and I finally made it to Lucha Libre... and when you wait that long, you got to go in Like a Boss. Oh yes... CHAMPIONS BOOTH. My gal pals reserved the glittery booth online and when we rolled up to the little spot on Friday night, we were a bit worried because the line was out the door. But worry not! When you're a Champion and have reservations at the Booth, you stroll right in. The booth is definitely the way to go. The fabulous obnoxious decor alone (gold booth, sequenced table, champs belt, glittery rope to block out the non-champs, trophy chips/salsa holder, etc.) had me sold me but along that comes table service! That's right friends....at the end of the day, Lucha is a taqueria where you stand in line, order and grab whichever table is available. But when you're a Champ, you simply pull on the bell cord or bang on the table bell and an awesome staff member pops up like magic. I'm not kidding...from bell ringing to someone showing up at our table was 15..maybe 30 seconds. Love it. On to the food... - Yep, I'm all about the salsas. As a condiment hoarder, if there are 10-12 options in front of me, I must try them all! And the creamy-cilantro situation was on point - I went for the Surfin' California Burrito filled with grilled steak, plump shrimp, fries and all the fixins'. And they did not skimp on the proteins! It was jammed pack and totally delicious. You definitely get your moneys worth. - My pals really liked their dishes that ranged from Queso Tacos (crispy cheesy taco), Veggie Tacos and Champion's Nachos... Food was great, service was extremely attentive and ambiance was on point. We'll definitely be back...in the Champions Booth of course! ps. And of course we had to rock the colorful hair while lounging in the booth with our tasty food and cold cervezas . When it Doubt--Wig it Out!!!

I'm giving this 3 stars because I'm tired of seeing lines because of a food network program. I promise that you've been to a cash only hole in the wall taco shop that's way better. This has become a tourist trap. IT ISN'T A BAD PLACE AND THE FOOD ISN'T TERRIBLE, but I promise once you go one time, you won't be banging down the door to go again. I promise. I was going there off and on long before the food network ever showed face, and not after as it's an absolute laugh how people wait up the street for average Mexican food.

For years I wondered why there would be a visible line at a taco shop in San Diego that rolls out to the street. Now I know. The food is different than any other taco shop in town, in a good way. The ambiance is so outrageously comical you have to enjoy it. Good place to bring folks that are visiting too. This place is very San Diego. Chicano pride shoved in your face via dripping munchie deliciousness while making you laugh at life. Cons - Parking can be a challenge and you have to be willing to wait for food and a seat.

With so many good taco/burrito shops in San Diego you have to ask the question why? If I am reviewing Lucha Libre as a California-Mexican fusion taco shop then I must give you 4 stars but as a San Diego taco shop I must give you 3. The Good- The quality of ingredients and quantity of ingredients by far are superior to most places. The size and quality of the shrimp used in the Surfin' California burrito is superior to most taco shops. The Surfin' burrito and probably the most popular item here has the right blend of ingredients and the secret chipotle sauce ties everything together. The carne asada burrito was filled with juicy and well cooked carne asada. It is also filled with a generous portion of guacamole. The Champion Fries use the same quality of carne asada and fries used in the Surfin' California. The fries are covered with a heaping scoop of guacamole, carne asada, pico de gallo, and sour cream. The decor of the place is great and fits the name well. The guacamole used in the items I tried had the right consistency and flavor you would expect. The Ugly- Parking can be very difficult so if you see anything open on the side of the street, down the street, anywhere take it and enjoy the walk. I had to risk my life parking along the narrow shoulder of Washington Ave. be careful! We know this place is always packed so just prepare yourself to wait. The staff does a good job at moving the line along but the line can be long. It can be also very difficult to find a seat so be prepared to watch like a hawk for an opening to sit. Remember don't assume there is rice and beans in a burrito like the carne asada burrito. The Carne Asada burrito will literally just be a ton of meat, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Most items are just overly portioned and everything is just dumped together. I can see were the hype comes from overly sized portions, unique options, and affordable. With so many good places for "mexican" food in San Diego I can't give this place more than 3 stars. If you do try this place come here with the vision of California-Mexican-American fusion not Mexican food or you will be disappointed.

Hot as balls. I don't understand why they don't have AC in here. It's a small taco shop with a long line. We opted to make reservations at the champions booth for my first experience which was totally the way to go. Service was great (you have your very own bell to ring if you want anything at all), and the food was delicious. My reservation was at 7pm and when we arrived there was someone sitting in the booth we reserved and the girls up front seemed to be confused about our reservation. Needless to say, they were able to clear everything up and get us seated quickly. The only issues that I had is when we went to pay at the end they were having issues with their credit card machine and ended up running our cards twice. They assured us that it would only be closed out once, but we all have double charges on our account. We are currently waiting for the manager to reach back out to us to reverse these charges before we go the dispute route so I hope they are able to resolve it quickly. They need to invest in some AC, otherwise I would suggest you sit outside or get food togo.

I read the reviews from my friends and I happen to be close by with a little time on my hands so figured I would try them out. For starters, parking is a challenge. I actually drove right past and by the time I saw the restaurant, I couldn't stop and back up and had to continue along. The difficulty is that you can't just make a u-turn and it's not as simple as going a block and coming back around. You actually have to go quite a distance to get back so when looking for this place, look carefully. Maybe it was fortuitous because by the time I got back, there was a parking spot right in front. I had heard about the lines and fortunately, there wasn't a big line. I actually walked inside and there were maybe four or five people ahead of me. I wasn't familiar with the menu but had plenty of time to review as it's prominently displayed overhead. I am a huge taco lover but not a fan of all the "gourmet tacos" and was disappointed that they didn't also serve just regular traditional tacos but I guess that's what makes this place different and why I didn't find it as good as some of my friends who reviewed it. To be fair, we ordered quite a bit just to be sure we had tried more than just one item. We got the "Tap Me Out" taco with grilled chicken, veggies, melted cheese and avocado slices and a Poblano sauce. This was just okay. I really can't say much more because there wasn't anything special and we didn't even finish eating it. Next up was the Surf and Turf taco with steak and shrimp, avocado and covered in a special sauce. I didn't care for the combination and ate the shrimp separately. The steak with the special sauce was okay. Last taco was the Queso Taco with steak, cheese and special sauce with avocado. Really no different from the Surf & Turf, just without the shrimp. Last, we had the Smackdown Quesadilla with grilled chicken breast and grilled veggies and melted cheese with sour cream and guacamole. We had a bite of it and ended up throwing the whole thing out. It's really about 75% veggies which are dripping out all over the place; about 15% chicken (actually I never really tasted any chicken) and less than 10% cheese (more like 5% if even that). It was just a big tortilla filled with grilled veggies that were dripping all over the place and barely any meat and rare if any cheese. They give you a small tray of chips to eat while you are waiting and when I say small, it would take about three to equal what you would normally get at a restaurant that serves chips and salsa before your meal. Considering we ordered three tacos, a quesadilla and a large order of guacamole, you would think they would have given us more chips. Sure, we could have asked... but why should we have to ask? By the way, forgot to mention the guacamole. They have two sizes.... small or large. Let me tell you the small is REALLY small. The small is literally a tablespoon. She showed me the cup and I laughed because I thought it was a joke. I laughed until I realized she wasn't laughing and realized she was serious. I can't even believe they try to sell the small and particularly for the price they charge. They do have a nice array of salsas that are nice and spicy and they do offer up carrots with jalapenos which were very tasty. I will add that as I'm writing this I noticed on their website they advertise "classic" tacos and burritos. However, when I look at the picture of the menu from the actual restaurant, it says "don't see your favorite classic tacos & burritos? Just ask" For some reason as many times as we scoured the menu when we were waiting in line, we did not see this. But having seen it, I think I will make a trip back someday just to try the classic tacos that I crave. Overall, not bad but not worth the rave reviews posted by so many. I would challenge those who have been here to try Tacos El Gordo in Chula Vista. There you will find the most authentic tacos with absolutely incredible meat.

Not exactly Mexican,not quite the same as other taco shops in SD. This place is its own mix of deliciousness and it is not to be missed.
